Irrational numbers $({\mathbb{Q}}^C)$: Defined as real numbers not in $\mathbb{Q}$:

$${\mathbb{Q}}^C=\mathbb{R}-\mathbb{Q}$$

The word "irrational" come from the fact that they cannot be expressed as "ratios" of integers.
